1920s. Hand-hammered. Diameter: 7.5 inches (top) - 5.5 inches (bottom). Height: 2.8 inches. Weight: 3.5 lbs. Iron handle with copper rivets: 6.7 inches. Stamp: 'Made in France'. Engraving 'LUTETIA'

This pan, made from thick, hand-hammered copper is a great example of the high quality of copper vessels created by craftsmen all over France. It was most likely manufactured in the first half of the previous century and shows the deep glow that is so particular to the hand-crafted pans of that age.

The name 'Lutetia' is engraved on the side of the pan. It's relatively uncommon to see full names, most chefs would only engrave their initials, and it could refer to the name of the establishment where the vessel was used.
